Re: southern gardening


 Some thoughts from another southerner -  what I hear is this: "garden" unmodified means vegetables.  Witness realtor-speak: in a real estate ad, "garden spot" means a relatively flat, sunny place for a food garden.  Ornamental gardening goes on in "flower gardens" or "flower beds."  The "yard" is the whole package.  

You might want to look at some older (10+ years) issues of Southern Living....
