new form of blog comment spam
Just a head's up that the outsourcing crowd has a new form of blogging spam.
It isn't machine-generated but is human generated. A real person actually
makes a reasonable sounding post about one of your topics BUT the name of
the blogger is a product or website and the url posted is to a sales website
rather than a blog.
This is an attempt to pick up inbound links -and a very well disguised one
at that. The sites in question were gardening websites but sales sites
plain and simple.
I let two of these get by me before I went "whoa!" - went back and deleted
them. I have Akismet set up on my wordpress blog but I"m now going to be
looking for a ip ban plugin similar to the one I had installed on the forum
I run. If anybody is running an ip ban plugin and thinks it works, please
id it here. Thanks
Doug
