Dear C.L.,

The May issue of "Consumer Reports" has a section on lawn mowers.

We have had a Neuton for 5 years and love it. That said, we do not have much
of a "lawn," cut high, and leave clippings on the grass. We did get a
back-up battery, but do not use any of the other gizmos. It's the only mower
I can start on my own. (CR does not have it at the top of their list,
however.)

The old gas guzzler is used once a year for the last cut of the season,
which is very low and picks up lots of fallen leaves. That cutting is bagged
with the clippings going into the compost bin. The Neuton would not work in
this case.

Good luck!

Warm regards, Hilda

P.S. Off topic: Once when Ron was away, I threw away an old winter jacket
that he had for years and years and replaced it with a brand new one. The
old one was worn, ripped and grungy, and washings did not help. He kept it
down the cellar to wear during fall leaf raking and winter snow shoveling.
He was NOT happy, and to this day often reminds me of the error of my
ways.... *;-)
