Re: GreatGardenSpeakers.com

This was a marvelous idea at its inception and many, many months in its
process and development. Personally, as a man with a host of good
intentions to self-promote and no available time to do it, this tremendous
group has come into my world with a gorgeous product. I thank them for
seizing the initiative, dedicating the time, demonstrating our passion and
just getting the job done. Blessings on their houses!

Hi everyone,

A few months ago we posted a survey to gauge interest in a new website to
promote garden speakers. After much consultation and development, we're
pleased to announce the official launch of GreatGardenSpeakers.com! We hope
you'll join and help us spread the word.

Thanks to the generosity of our Founding Members (listed below), we have
raised funds to cover all the development costs and hosting costs for the
rest of the year. That means that if you join now, 100% of your membership
fee will be put to work promoting you and the other speakers. We'll reach
out to garden clubs, botanical gardens, flower shows, and other venues that
book speakers like us. Debra Prinzing is running our publicity campaign,
which will include press releases, articles in various newsletters,
distribution of printed materials, and advertising in newsletters,
magazines, and conference programs that reach the kinds of groups that might
host us as speakers. We're sure you'll agree that $5 per month is a bargain
price for an ongoing publicity campaign that benefits not only you, but our
profession as a whole. The publicity campaign kicks off July 1, so we hope
you'll sign up now and reap the benefits of the first round of outreach.

Please visit GreatGardenSpeakers.com and check it out. Our About/FAQ page
has links to lots of information for speakers and the venues that book us.
In the next few weeks, we'll be reaching out to garden writers, landscape
designers and architects, horticulture professionals, florists, and
nature/conservation experts to get them listed as speakers. Feel free to
pass this information on to your contacts as well.

Again, this is an all-volunteer effort aimed at doing the kind of publicity
that is so hard for each of us to do on our own. Membership is only $5 per
month, and a "spotlight" featured listing that gives you extra visibility on
the site is $35 per month. Those funds will be put to work right away on
our outreach campaign.

We're also offering sidebar banner ads to carefully-chosen sponsors like
garden book publishers, garden-related companies, etc who want to support
our mission--go here to read about that:

Questions? Comments? We can certainly discuss it on-list if you like, or
write to info@greatgardenspeakers.com . Our list of Founding Members is
below--thanks to all of them for their generosity and assistance.

Cheers,

The GGS steering committee
