Re: Perennials low-maintenance?

Well my garden is sorta like that at times. It has a lot of perennials plus
annuals like larkspur and borage and a foot-tall bright pink silene that
seed themselves all over the place and right now things are happening and I
just go out every morning and look.

But there are times when I work at it. The maintenance comes when the silene
and larkspur start browning out their foliage and have to be pulled and then
I look around for some pots that had been sitting on the sidewalk waiting
for something to do and plug them in the empty spots. Of course these are
annuals. I¹m now getting overrun with Anemone japonica and this fall, after
they bloom, I¹m going to have to get rid of half of them. That will
problably aggravate the arthritis in my shoulders so I¹m not looking forward
to it. I¹m going to have to divide my iris as well. There¹s tradescantia and
garlic chives growing among the rhizomes and digging up everything is the
only fix. Another big job.

However, in principle I understand what she¹s saying and don¹t think it¹s
too far off.

But there's work too--deadheading
