norfolk island pine

Twice in the past week I have received questions about Norfolk Island pines. We grow these here are an indoor ornamental...frequently decorated for Christmas

Question One: the plant is lopsided from the pot never having been turned, so it leans quite a bit to one side. Possible solution — snip off the longer branches on one side and try to straighten in pot...possibly w/a stake.

Question Two: the 20-year-old plant has tremendous sentimental value for the owner, but is declining. She want info on taking a root cutting...I'm wondering if a cutting from the leader would be better?? On line, a Website said these are usually grown commercially from seed, but I'm guessing that is not an option.

Any thoughts, suggestions???
