Re: Groundhogs
At the last house I owned here in California the grey Norway rats were so
bold that in the summer, at about quarter to eight in the early evening,
they'd start running back and forth on the powerline right behind my
backyard. It took me about three nights of seeing this when I got a bright
idea. My son and I set up our camp chairs and armed with a pair of BB guns,
we'd shoot at the rats as they ran across. Was actually great fun and now
and then we did actually knock a rat off the wire. Unfortunately, after a
week of this late afternoon wholesome family entertainment, the lousy rats
got wise to it and stopped using the wire as a freeway.

PS. No matter how much you eastern folks knock those groundhogs....my all
time favorite movie is still Groundhog Day.
PPS. I had a serious deer problem here for years....they ate pretty near
everything ....I tried human hair from the barber shop, coyote urine,
mountain lion urine, Not Tonight Deer, night motion lights, etc....finally
solved the deer problem with some serious deer fencing (which doesn't do a
thing to stop the raccoons).
