Re: photos needed (and the value of photography)

I have to say that I thought it was rather refreshing for someone to be
honest about what their art work is worth and what is not worth. So often,
particularly in GWA, it is frowned upon to discuss fees and it leaves those
who are maybe starting out not having a clue what to charge.

What is also apparent is that we are all professional and along with many
other artistic fields, the amount we charge, or get paid, for things runs
from just above free to a few thousand.

It would be nice is the GWA so many of us are member of, often posts
writing gigs for low paying places such as the one currently on there where
someone has a blog that needs entries : 'looking for unique content on a
variety of garden and landscape topics' for all of $15! Why are we not vetting
these people and letting them know that we are worth more than $15 an if
they want to post a job it needs to have a realistic fee structure.

It is a sore point for me too..to hear that $50 is too low to bother. In
my world it is not. I suspect others understand my world...

I only have trouble that the comment was posted to the list. Others that
believe $50 is fair...will get involved...if it is too low for
some...fine...they won't reply. I just don't need to hear how low it is.
