Plain Text vs. HTML
I just had something brought to my attention. In the archives, when
there is a mix of html and plain text letters, the html gets translated to
text with all the computer code symbols for html included. That makes a
hash of the letters for anyone trying to read the archives, or if they get
the GWL as a digest. For that reason, it would be a big help if everyone
would go into the preferences/settings/whatever is right for your e-mailer,
and set your letters to be plain text only, if you can possibly manage it.
It would help make the letters better in other ways, too. First, html with
lots of fancy stuff on it can add lots of bandwidth (kb's) to a letter and
make it slower to download.
Also, with the new types of worms and viruses, if we all used plain
text, there would be less possibility of something slipping into the list in
the html code.
Thanks for helping make the list better.
