Red Ribbon Bulb site opens April 1

Planting bulbs has always been a symbol of hope. This fall planting red,
white and blue bulbs will symbolize a new hope, a hope for a drug free
America.

The National Family Partnership is again sponsoring Plant the Promise
this year with a "Freedom is Drug Free -- Plant the Promise" theme.
Last year some 600 schools participated by planting red tulip or anemone
bulbs.

Packages of patriotic bulbs and traditional red bulbs go on sale
beginning April 1 at http://www.redribbon.org. Proceeds will benefit
local NFP drug education programs.

The dream is for millions of bulbs to be planted across the country on
Oct 23 as an outward and lasting symbol of our commitment to a drug free
America.

Please help us spread the word. It will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Suzi McCoy

'RED RIBBON WEEK' ANNOUNCES
2002 'PLANT THE PROMISE'

Miami, FL March 20, 2002 - Planting bulbs has always been a symbol of
hope. This fall planting red, white and blue bulbs will symbolize a new
hope, a hope for a drug free America.

On October 23 thousands of parents, teachers and students will plant
red, white and blue bulbs to kick off the 2002 Red Ribbon celebration
"Freedom is Drug Free -- Plant the Promise," sponsored by the National
Family Partnership (www.NFP.org).

"Freedom from drugs is the key to helping young people reach their full
potential," explains Molly Osendorf, national Red Ribbon Week organizer
for NFP. "We have seen too many promising young people become slaves to
drugs."

Last year some 600 schools participated in the bulb planting program.
"The dream this year," says Osendorf," is to have millions of people,
young and old planting red, white and blue bulbs in schools, homes and
communities across America."

Once again NFP is joining forces with TulipWorld.com to help raise
awareness and funds for educational programs. Patriotic red, white and
blue packages and traditional Red Ribbon bulb packages will be available
at www.redribbon.org beginning April 1.

Packages come in two sizes of either 30 or 100 of TulipWorld's quality
large-sized bulbs and sell for $12 and $30. Special heat and deer
resistant bulbs are available.

All bulbs have been personally selected by Jacqueline van der Kloet, a
founder of TulipWorld.com and a world renowned bulb garden designer.

Included in the package is a special guide on talking to kids about
drugs and remaining drug free. Created by NFP, this guide is based on
information from the Office of National Drug Control Policy.

NFP is a non-profit organization that educates parents and communities
about keeping children drug and alcohol free.

Coincidently, the timing for the bulbs is perfect. Those planted during
Red Ribbon Week will bloom in about six months, just in time for
National Alcohol Awareness month in April.

Background
Headquartered in Miami, the National Family Partnership is a network of
parents who strive to keep their children safe, healthy and drug free.
In the 1970's when drug use was on the rise, parents began forming local
coalitions in several states to stop the threat of substance abuse.

In 1980, these grassroots organizations joined forces to form the
National Family Partnership. With Honorary Chairperson, Nancy Reagan,
the National Family Partnership began sponsoring annual conferences to
inform and motivate parents, providing millions of brochures to educate
children, and leading the fight for anti-drug legislation.

In 1985, when DEA agent Kiki Camarena was assassinated in Mexico by a
drug cartel, youth in his community began wearing red satin badges to
honor his memory and demonstrate their commitment to the fight against
drugs.

In 1986, NFP created what is now known as Red Ribbon Week. This
triggered a national movement for people to join together and show their
commitment to the fight against drugs in their own homes, schools and
neighborhoods.
