My friend, Steve Richmond, has used Page One and I asked him to write up an
evaluation for the Garden Writers List:
Page ONE Literary Newsletter Web Site ( www.pageonelit.com ) is operated by
John Weaver who operates his business in Wilmington, North
Carolina. In his advertising, John emphasizes his website's endorsement by
Writer's Digest, and his service has likewise been featured
in USA Today and The Chicago Tribune.
John offers independent authors a chance to market their compositions
on the internet for a reasonable fee. The cost for an posted interview is
$250, but what's great is the interview remains posted
indefinitely. To conduct the on-line interview, John needs writers to
provide him with a photograph of the author, biographical information, a
picture of the book cover, a link to your own website (if you have one), and a
review copy of your publication.
The interview is conducted in two parts. First, John
supplies the author with a series of questions that go to general matters
of publishing and the general subject of your book. Then, after he has had
a chance to read your work, he supplies questions that arise from his reading,
making the interview specific to the work being marketed.
I have found John to be personable and responsive to my
needs. He has always been prompt in responding to my queries and helpful
in his advice. John's service can be a boon to writers needing a means of
marketing their work at a reasonable cost.
Steve's book: For many years, Steven S. Richmond served as a senior
administrator with the Massachusetts Department of Social Services. Over
the years he worked in several capacities with women who had been
abused by their partners. He never expected his wife to turn the tables on
him. After expressing her wish for a divorce and determined to
end their marriage on her terms, his wife obtained a restraining order on the
grounds that Steven had sharp carpentry tools in his car that could be used as
lethal weapons. No questions were asked by the court. And his
nightmare began. His book Terms of Enforcement
is an account of his experience with America's sometimes misguided campaign to
fight domestic violence. Fran Gustman, Editor
