The trough is a classic and elegant type of container. You might want to look at "Creating and Planting Garden Troughs" by Joyce Fingerut and Rex Murfitt (B. B. Mackey Books, 1999). The authors give complete information on making and planting troughs and using them in the landscape. Rock garden plants and methods are emphasized. For a review copy, get in touch with me.
