I'm a huge fan of the B.B. Mackey trough book. Joyce, Rex, AND Betty have done a fantastic job--and there is no better looking container for many plants than a trough. Here at The New York Botanical Garden we are putting the finishing touches on a new display in the rock garden (plug, plug...) that will showcase these containers. Come visit to see for yourself--and in the meantime, pick up J, R, and B's book. The techniques discussed (outside of construction) are applicable to other kinds of container plantings as well.
