Hi, Melanie,
In addition to all the other good advice, jot down
a list of George Rasmussen's major achievements and best daylily cultivars.
These facts will enrich the article. Also, was there some kind of error you
were making that he corrected for you? That could be a colorful part of the
story.
Top Ten lists can be used as sidebars if the
article is to be lighthearted.
I prefer to write on the computer, starting by
listing random related facts. Eventually a lead occurs to me. I draw a line of
dashes above the random facts and start the paragraphs up above it. Eventually
all the relevant facts migrate above the line in one sentence or another. The
line and any leftovers get erased.
