21st National Garden Railway Convention

Garden railway enthusiasts from around the world will
be gathering in St.Charles, Illinois at the Pheasant
Run Resort & Spa for the 21st National Garden Railway
Convention July 26 through July 31, 2005.

Celebrating the distinction that the Chicago area is
the Rail Hub of America, rail fans will see the best
the Midwest has to offer in G-scale railroading.
Activities will include tours of local area garden
railroads, 33,000 sq. ft. of vendor exhibits and
booths, a cheesecake and ice cream social reception, a
hobo dinner and a banquet at Pheasant Run. Daily
clinics on practical hobby topics are scheduled for
curious beginners and knowledgeable experts.
Fascinating tours will include a day trip to the
Chicago Botanic Garden and a private event at the
Illinois Railway Museum including access to exhibits,
operating equipment, and an on-site barbeque. Those
interested in any aspect of this hobby from G-scale
trains, gardening with trains, or water features in
railroad layouts are welcome to download a
registration form at www.21ngrc.com or contact the
Registrar, Gayle Althardt, at 847-634-0637.

The public is invited to visit the exhibit hall at
Pheasant Run on Saturday, July 30 from 9:00 a.m. to
5:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 31st from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00
p.m. for a daily fee of $10.00 per person, children
under 12 admitted free. Visitors will have the
opportunity to see two large scale railway displays
and speak with local train club members, obtain cargo
loads of information from the vendors, attend clinics
and see what is innovative in the garden railway
hobby.
