blooming now

I imagine some folks in the frozen northland might hate to hear this, as do
my son and grandchildren in Massachusetts:

Blooming now, in Riverside, California, half way between LA and Palm
Springs, in my garden--pansies, violas, statice sinuata, statice perezii,
calendulas, medium cup daffodils, dianthus, primula, alyssum, ageratum, lobelia, bird
of paradise, vinca minor, sparaxis, scilla, gerbera, gazania, cosmos, day
lily, verbena tennuisecta, puschkinia, rosemary, tall marigolds, forget-me-not,
violets, impatiens, vinca. Just about finished are camellia, trumpet
daffodils, hyacinths, saucer magnolia. Roses have leafed out after January pruning,
grapes leafing out, and spring is definitely here, temps yesterday were 80
plus, today will be about 65, rain expected over the weekend--the last rain
we'll get, I think, and the next project will be to plant more summer annuals,
keep on weeding, and make sure the air conditioner is ready to start the summer.
