I used to get several gardening magazines each month. I no longer subscribe
to any. I glance through several when I get to a large newsstand and seldom
see anything of interest, certainly not anything with any depth. Many limit
their stories to a few hundred words, which is hardly enough to cover any
topic or plant thoroughly. They are targeted to people who leaf through
rather than read. Bathroom fodder.

A friend recently gave me a copy of Horticulture, which once was a fairly
decent garden mag. What particularly surprised me was not just the
shallowness but the poor quality of the writing.
