Re: Need Advice: Has anyone dealt with high alkaline soils?


Try adding large quantities of sawdust and coarse sand (not playground sand) 
to your beds and then top with compost.  Many woodworking shops will give 
you all the sawdust you can haul for free.  After your beds are built and 
have set for 60 days to get microbal activity going, then plant dusting 
seeds and transplant roots with mycorrhizal fungi.  All you should have to 
do further for maintenance is to add an inch of compost every fall and 
spring.
