Re: stringer, Blogging and decent money

The shrinking attention span thing is something I have thought about lately.
When I first started giving talks, the time slot was one hour. Then
conferences were reducing the speakers to 45 minutes. Right now I am doing a series
of 30 minutes talks at work geared so that people can leave work, munch and
learn, then be back at the office- all in one hour. About a month ago though, a
church group wanted a speaker for their evening meeting - could I do great
shrubs for all year color - in 15 minutes with 5 minutes for questions!!!!
So either the attentions are short, or more likely, people are rushing
through life filling it with way to many things.

Did the national attention span begin to shrink
when MTV begat vertigo-inducing jump-cut editing? Or were those just
symptoms
of a trend we were ready for, primed for by the ever-increasing demands on
our
eyes and ears?
