Re: The joy of garden certainty
Well I can remember hearing for as long as I've been gardening that deer
will eat rhododendron foliage. But in 30 years I've never, ever seen it. Still
we spray the foliage and I know people who spray, fence and do all kinds of
incantations to protect their rhodies from the deer. Still, I hadn't seen a
nibble. Well, they nibbled this winter. They followed the path through the
formal garden and munched the repellant treated foliage along the way....the
whole way. Talk about desperation. Can you imagine being so hungry that
you'd eat latex coated, thiram dippped, leather textured foliage? I'd take the
daffodil for sure.
