Re: gardenwriters Digest, Vol 74, Issue 7


I agree with Carolyn that this plant would have been toast had she  
not brought it in.  We have had heavy snow cover all winter, then  
poof, in three days the temps climbed into the high 40s and low 50s  
and the snow was gone. The freeze and snow came so fast last  
November,  the ground never really froze so given a 40 degree plus  
sunny day or two,  plants in micro climates leaf out.  I had a Johnny  
Jump Up bloom in a side walk crack. Last week we had 50 degrees in  
the am and single digets over night. Those tender little leaves would  
have been toast. Also, it's my sense the varigated Monet is more  
tender than its brothern and needs uber protection.
