Personally, I don't get Twitter either. :) Some of my guys at
work are using it to keep track of their day-to-day activities
for status reports; every fifteen minutes they'd enter what they
worked on, then look at the history at the end of week and write
a summarized report.
It's the only real-world application I've seen that validates
its existence. Anything else dilutes the value of any 'real'
news that I might have to report.

In my opinion, no, it's not something that the world needs. I suppose
its strength is the ubiquity of its clients and the instantaneous
nature of its updates, but I'm also not vain enough to believe that
anyone wants to know what I'm doing the second that it happens. :)
They can wait until my blog is updated, my Facebook status is changed,
or I've sent out an email if it was important enough to be listed
there.
