Dear Garden Writers,

I'm proud to announce that KGI's new website has sprouted here:

http://kitchengardeners.org

I'd like to invite you to not only check it out but to consider contributing
to it as garden "mentors" as some other top-notch garden writers are doing.
As a small nonprofit group, we can't pay for content, but, with over 20,000
readers (and a Google Grant sending us even more visitors), we can help send
some traffic to your blog or books page link.

For the techies among you, the site is built with Drupal, the same
open-source platform that is powering the White House's website among many
others.  We've got lots going on there: Q&A, blogs, recipes, forums, virtual
groups, pods ( a Google Groups like feature allowing gardeners in the same
local area to connect), international partner pages, an interactive map,
etc.  Our new home on the web is replacing our former site which was a
Movable Type-powered blog stitched together with a Ning community site.  As
a group promoting self-reliance, we felt it was necessary for us to "walk
the talk" by using open-source technology that doesn't hold us hostage to
any one web company's changing moods, policies, or ownership.
