Re: GWL thumb drives
Add me to those who prefer online high-res jpegs that can easily be accessed by editors/writers. Thumb drives are nice, but I have a drawer (or more) full and going through them hunting for one elusive shot is a nightmare. I still hang on to them and to CDs I've been given, but I much prefer a wide choice of online images. Much handier on deadline.
And I simply don't understand why book publishers of all people don't do that. Sometimes they're there but in tiny, unusable sizes. You call the publicist and he/she is out for several days and you're on deadline -- well, sometimes the book doesn't get the nice review because the photo wasn't available when it was needed.

Katie -- I totally agree. Plant breeders, marketers, product manufacturers, etc., should have high res images on line so that writers and editors can access them as we need them and when, such as midnight right before an article is due. Props to Proven Winners and Walters Gardens for providing their images on line. They are password protected, but it's easy to get that set up. The Netherlands Flower Bulb Information Center had a great on line library, too, but the center is no more. Still have tons of photos from there, though.

While I like the free thumb drives, making sure that there's a good place
on the website where people can download the images for media use is also
nice. There are so many places (including publishers) that don't easily
make high res images available. Book covers, for example.
