What Cat didn't mention was that there is no equivalent to the County Extension Office in Canada.  There are (usually) regional offices but they are funded through the government with no formally funded university involvement and also tend to be industry oriented rather than consumer oriented (he says living in both countries)  That's the broad picture.  I'm sure there are gray areas with the Ag schools and she can answer specifics I'm sure.
