Good morning everyone,
I see my name in the headlights so thought I should answer. In the past have done a lot of work for Demand Studios, primarily videos. I was also invited to be one of a team of folks who responded to questions coming in on their web site pertaining to gardening etc. From my end I found them quick and efficient to work with, all in all it was a good relationship. Unfortunately I had to stand back from answering questions, I just have to much on my plate. We have not done videos for a spell, but are hoping their program will start up again. Noting a comment about the possibility of me not being paid for the work I/we did for Demand, Monrovia was compensated for my time and effort. On a personal note I found them a good group of people to work with. Do hope this is of assistance to you all, thank you.
Best regards,
Nicholas

I wrote garden articles for Demand 2010-2011. After awhile I did manage to get into some projects for more than $25 per article, but the problem with them, as someone else mentioned, is that they are extremely picky and demanding about their style guidelines. Actually, the rules were more complex than any publication I have ever written for, and I've written for plenty. They will send back for rewrites for the slightest infraction. The higher paying assignments had even more requirements, so the hourly rate remained the same despite the jump in pay. Given their high standards and really low pay (which I find so ironic), it's very difficult to make a good hourly rate. I did try, though, because to be quite honest, I felt like I was working on a Rubik's cube and thought certainly I'd finally break the code. I also wrote for them because I wanted to learn how to write faster so that when I found higher paying assignments at other places I'd make more per hour. The latter did hap
pen. I became extremely quick at writing online content from the experience. They have deadlines for your articles, and back when I wrote for them, the articles would disappear from your queue and be thrown back into the "general population" at the stroke of midnight. This happened even if you were right in the middle of working on the piece! So I would start an article an hour before midnight and rush to finish it--but within all of their nitpicky requirements. So if you're looking for an adrenalin rush that pays, this works! They did pay twice a week, too, which someone mentioned.
That's my two cents.

I can't make the Wednesday phone call, so I'll be interested to hear what you think.

When I googled them and bore down into who is in their stable, Nick Staddon comes up so I'm hoping he and maybe some others will share w/us which might negate the $25 fee, etc. I'm willing to participate in the Wed phone call to at least understand the process to gain more.

I had tried to find out how much they paid before applying, so as not to waste anyone's time, but they wouldn't give out that info. I checked as soon as I was approved and the gardening articles pay a maximum of $25. That's a no-go for me.
