From Catriona Erler "...Which rose books do you consider to be the best on the market? They can be
a how-to, an overview of rose history and types, or anything else that you
feel tells the rose story well..."
Hi, Catriona!
I don't know if these are the best on the market, but they are relevant to the subject matter I cover in the presentations I give.
My rose presentations are usually about growing roses organically and/or maintenance free roses. The two books that I bring with me and refer to as part of those 2 talks are
Roses without chemicals by Peter Kukielski, the former curator of the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden at the New York Botanical Garden. He headed up the renovation of the garden, and brought it into its current state of growing roses without chemicals, as the titles states. (Yes, the title is typed correctly).
The second book is everyday ROSES by Paul Zimmerman, a well known rosarian who also writes the rose blog for Fine Gardening magazine. This one focuses on landscape/low maintenance roses and how to grow them. I continue to follow him via his blog and assorted updates. (Again, the title is typed correctly).
Pls let us know when your article publishes. I'm always interested in reading about roses and learning/sharing info.
Thanks!
Lorraine
