It has been my experience that most people who talk the talk about the 
environment still want a billiard table all around their house.  I tried to 
tell the other Conservation Commissioners that the Scotts C. is now saying 
that people should cut their grass at the highest level their mowers will 
allow.  They were very reluctant to consider that choice.  They see golf 
greens on TV and think that is how their front yards should look.  We have to 
get back to considering our gardens as functional spaces, not sites to 
demonstrate personal wealth.
