This is Pete Bogdanov's excellent seminar on Best Management
Practices for Vermiculture. He has offered this seminar for the past
several years and I have participated the last two. Pete has
developed a 400+ page, comprehensive manual on aspects one must have
at least some knowledge about to develop a successful vermiculture
(growing worms) or vermicomposting (processing wastes and producing
castings) business. Chapters include Composting Process and product,
Biology and Ecology of Earthworms, Vermicomposting process and
product, marketing, financing, site plans, operations, regulations
and business plans. It's the best show around for getting good basic
information about vermicomposting, as well as a chance to meet
leaders in the industry. I'm sure castings and castings teas will be
a hot topic this year, as they rightly should be.
