RHS Chelsea Flower Show

This year's Chelsea Flower Show was packed as ever, not only with
people, but also with seemingly more show gardens than ever.

I managed to visit on one of the few dry days, but I was still pushed
for time to see everything. Fortunately the BBC has put the gardens
onto its website:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/gardening/events/chelsea2003/gardens/

This will give everyone a chance to see what the trends are this
year, even if they couldn't get to the show. I can assure you that
some of the website views are better than what a typical visitor
would have seen. Crowding is commonplace around the more popular
stands.

Chelsea was gimmick laden as usual, but perhaps this was a little
less blatant this year. The continuing drift towards more
naturalistic gardens was evident, with profuse informal plantings.
Chelsea gardens are rarely practical, but they do seem to reflect the
trends withing gardening as a whole - this side of the pond.
