Re: calling cards

Title: Re: [GWL] calling cards
It would be much better if everyone remove the V-cards from their e-mails before posting them.  Besides the fact that, as attachments, they can trigger anti-spam and anti-virus software, they are essentially useless on a discussion list since no one is apt to bother to open them.  It would be much more effective for the purposes of the list to include the information in your signature.  You don't have to worry about spammers picking up the info as the archives of this list are private, available only to list members.  Of course that doesn't mean that a determined hacker couldn't get in, but normal, legitimate means such as search engines are unlikely to get in.
So if you have a vcf on your e-mails, please remove it for the list.

They are a standard method for exchanging address information.  They are
supposed to make it easier for me to add you to my address book for
lookups, etc.  Like you giving me a business card.

I confess I have never explored all of the ways that they are supposed
to make my life easier but I see in my Outlook help files that I can add
one to my signature.

I don't know why the list allows them (maybe it's on an MS operating
system) or why they are ending up on your hard drive :-(.
