Hi,
I'd like to hear off-list from anyone who has a story or an anecdote about becoming ignorant as a result of moving. Example--I had gardened for 40 years in temperate climates on both coasts, felt I was an expert gardener, wrote a (great) book about gardening, then moved to the desert. All of a sudden I knew nothing--I was completely ignorant about gardening. A friend told me how she always felt she was an outdoors person, active and vigorous. Then she moved to Montana, and found out she knew nothing, since she knew nothing about skiing, and that's what outdoor recreation meant there.
Please send any responses off line. I'm interested in the topic broadly, not simply in relation to gardening. Thanks.
