Author's Nightmare aka Cavett blog

Dear GardenWriters:

I've recently finished an initial 4 month book tour to 9 states that was
was both fulfilling
and educational. This blog link of Author's Nightmare by Dick Cavett
might be interesting.
Some of the comments in Cavett's blog-readers are interesting.

Wow, keep your eyes open. Its worth making those phone calls to the book
stores to see what is happening. Hound your publisher about print runs
and availability. Timeless
Landscape Design sold out in 30 days BUT we a lost several speaking
engagements since hosts didn't have books to sell (and were huffy about
it!!) ! The second printing is doing very well.

As a "first time" author (22 years between books!) , I've been pretty
happy with my publicist at Gibbs-Smith.
This squeaky wheel got oiled once I knew how to ask (and send design)
for cards to be printed and posters sent with adequate lead time.

I leave for England to lecture and booksign next week. Please keep your
fingers crossed. Its been said that anything can happpen in real estate,
horses... and bookselling!
