August Trade Show

I'm sure most of you have received the Quill & Trowel April issue by now and seen the ad on page 19 for the IGC Show in Chicago in August.  Since I live within 100 miles of Chicago, I inquired about getting a press pass and came away with some interesting opportunities I want to share with you.

On Wednesday, Aug. 20, the show's second day, there will be a media reception on the show's floor after everyone leaves.  All displays will be available for viewing without crowds.  There will be a meet and greet with refreshments and a speaker, Diarmuid Gavin, the BBC landscape designer who is also the show's keynote speaker.  He will be doing interviews and answering questions.  

The show's PR man Clint Albin tells me that a display of the newest products and plants is planned, too.

Included in this show is a free concert by Kansas on Navy Pier the previous night, along with a cocktail party.  

Everything is free for media.  You get a VIP press pass.  Downtown Chicago and Navy Pier are easy to navigate if you use Amtrak or Metra trains from outlying suburbs.
