Re: Selection

Kate: You are out of line and woefully so! Here in Asheville we have BB Barns, one of the best nurseries in the Southeast with an incredible selections of native plants, exotic (but well-behaved perennials), and rock plants galore, not to mention an amazing choice of pots--the owners are men. Then at the other end of town we have Reems Creek Valley Nursery, the same in concept but this time run by a husband and wife team, the Penlands. Finally, we have Sandy Mush, one of the all time greats, owned and operated by Fairman and Kate Jaynes. The only time I've run into boring selections from men are at the box stores, like Home Depot and Loew's, where their corporate heads have never even visited a nursery. And if you don't believe me about the box stores, ask the clerks!
Best, Peter
