GWL: This is the moss lawn next door to my garden in Asheville. It's been there over 30 years and only requires dead leaves removed in the fall--or the moss goes into a dormant state. If leaves are raked the moss doesn't run brown. The photo shows the moss in mid-February. Hi, Nan and everyone, My moss lawn is self-sustaining because it is in shade and I have a moist climate here. It's within range of other moss that spreads spores into thelawn area. It began when I realized that the moss was winning out over thegrass so I began removing the grass. I water it occasionally but never fertilize it. I made a little ebook about it, based on an article I wrote last year. It has a magazine-like format with loads of moss garden photos. Viral marketing -- it is good info and free, but to pay for itself it carries my booklist at the end. Take a look! It is great if anyone wants to link to it. http://issuu.com/bbmackey/docs/ebookmoss This issuu.com site can make a page-flipping ebook magazine or book out of any pdf file. It is free to join at basic level and that's what I did. Best wishes, Betty www.mackeybooks.com----- Original Message ----- Subject: Re: [GWL] From today's Voice of San DiegoThanks Betty! A moss lawn? Is that a self-sustaining lawn? I assume you wouldn't have to plant it - yes?
