Re: Fwd: Pesticide info

Jeff and All,
I'm with you Jeff. Additionally in response to a growing organic market there are new products and techniques to deal, with insects, disease and weeds. We can help gardeners by discussing some of these methods in our talks. For example the simple technique of smothering weeds with layers of cardboard or newspaper is new info for so many gardeners. Likewise a little mention of protecting our pollinators and beneficials if an when we use any pesticide is often all it takes to increase peoples awareness. Another thing as garden experts is try to clearly identify which category the problem falls. Example you wouldn't use even an organic pesticide to control weeds or disease. I hope this doesn't seem too trivial but I think and informed public is more responsive to environmental issues and many of us give a lot of garden talks.
And of course like Jeff and others I always work in a little plug and explanation for PAR. Just trying to change the world one garden at a time.
Best,
Rose Marie Nichols McGee

>> Btw, I firmly believe garden writers need to stop, at least, home gardener's from using non organic icides.....gardener's should not poison themselves, their innocent families their unsuspecting neighbors or the earth. Spray weed be gone and it drifts seventy five miles. Where does anyone get off hurting others like this elsewhere? We have been duped and we need to stop helping spread the word. These chemicals are dangerous all around and we must not promote them and should fight them. Otherwise we are guilty......
