Re: Roses for SoCal desert?
Doing well in hot sun and disease resistance were the first two characteristics that Herbert Swim looked in the roses he bred such as Double Delight. The other thing he looked for was scent.
Joseph's Coat is the only Swim rose that does well here in Ireland though I keep trying with Double Delight, Mr Lincoln and Oklahoma out of sentimentality. But in the climate you are describing all his roses should do well.
