RE: [GWL]: More GWAA Symposium Notes
What is PlanetGardens URL?
Sheri
PlanetGarden.com is a web site that looks a whole lot like MySEasons.com and
even a little like Garden.com on first blush. It sells product, has a
content section, etc. It is paid for in large part as I understand the deal
by Pike's a large retail chain in the Atlanta area. The content comes from
the books published by Cool Springs Press. Each author gets something but
I'm not clear on the deal; not big bucks that is for sure. It has been up
for three or four years. Todd Steadman, former member of GWAA who visited
us at Orlando and former garden editor for Southern Living was their first
editor. He left them last year unhappy with how they were handling the
content. I have never seen any advertising for them nor does Cool Springs
seem to be promoting them. Liz Ball, one of the authors says she has not
heard from them in over a year after a big rush to get the authors on board.
I have no idea how they are doing financially, maybe someone else on the
list has some data.
