If there is no contract, the newspaper has only one-time use and the columns
are yours to do with as you wish. You aren't employed by the newspaper are
you? If you are and wrote them on the job it would be work for hire, in which
case the columns belong to the paper and not you.

I have written ten years of newspaper columns, some of which I would like to
incorporate into a book. There was no written agreement or signed contract
between me and the newspaper. What , if anything, do I need to do in order
to use some of these columns again? Can anyone out there help me? Thanks.
