Re: Gifts for gardeners recommendations?

Title: Re: [GWL] Gifts for gardeners recommendations?
I'm delighted to see everyone's gift suggestions and, with Lon's encouragement, throw in my own bit of self promotion ‹ for my book, The Holistic Garden: Creating Spaces for Health and Healing (Prentice Hall, 2001). Although published in Canada, it was written with U.S. distribution in mind (though that hasn't happened for various complicated reasons), so there are U.S. stats, examples and sources as well as Canadian ones. Tom Ogren, that cheerful pursuer of pollen, has seen it and had some very positive words to say about it on this list, bless his heart.

Anyway, it's available through Gardenscape Tools website: http:www.gardenscapetools.com for $22 U.S. While you are there, check out some of their other offerings -- some excellent enabling tools and other products at very reasonable prices.

Two items I found enormously useful this year were: a wrist brace (from Gardenscape) (also useful at the computer) and a small short-handled shovel (almost kid-size but heavy-duty, from  Ames Garant). The latter is ideal for turning over material in a wheelbarrow or digging in tight spaces where a regular shovel is too cumbersome and a trowel is too small. I used it constantly.
