Chile is the spelling used by the Chile-heads list, and I prefer it too. The spellings with two Ls are English/Australian/NZ/Indian spellings. Chile is the Nahuatl word. OTOH, Brook, we could celebrate the "lostness" of a white man, and call them peppers. Margaret L
Hmmmm? I thought Gannett had it's own stylebook, based on the AP's but with some modifications.

AP stylebook aside, I sure wouldn't want to be the one to try and determine which of the half dozen or more spellings of chili (the plant) is correct. Is it chili, chile, chille, chilli, chillie, or what?
Besides which, Chile is a country in South America. :-)
