Did you ever see "Memories Of Me?"

Alan King: "You need an agent."
Billy Crystal: "How do you get an agent."
AK: "You get a speaking part."
BC: "How do you get a speaking part?"
AK: "You need an agent...........Don't ask. I've been in the business 20 years and still don't understand it"

My understanding is that it isn't much different in the publishing world.
