Wow! so many great ideas. I'd like to add a few from Seeds of Change as well. As someone else mentioned, we've got some great theme seed collections, all organic of course, especially interesting (to me) are the ones that are geared towards ecological gardening like our Beneficial Insect and Pollinator Attracting collections. Also some nice salad and braising greens collections too.

On the book front, the series of recently reissued gardening classics, edited by Micheal Pollan, especially "the American Gardener" and Gardener's Bed Book make for great winter reading.

Another favorite this year has been the Japanese Kama (grass sickle)

A worm composter and a few thousand red wigglers are a great gift for winter composting too.

Good Luck with the article!

<x-tad-bigger>Oh you have to love editors. Have a Monday deadline for a short newspaper supplement on food and cooking that will be distributed between Thanksgiving and Christmas. They think a short piece on gifts for the vegetable gardener would be nice. Open and desperate for all ideas.</x-tad-bigger>
