Re: Christmas gifts for the vegetable gardener

A narrow spade (often called a ditch or drain spade) is the favorite gardening tool here in heavy clay country.
 
Joyce Chen scissors go from garden to kitchen. They're tough as nails.
 
If your editor won't freak,a load of composted horse exhaust is welcome to most gardeners.
 
And then there's the best sunscreen I've tried, Sun-Dab by Gardenworks. I can't stand the stink of most sunscreens, but got a sample of this at the Seattle GWAA, and loved it. I've let lots of people try mine at garden lectures and it's gotten raves.
 
How about a gift certificate and catalog to SSE or Tomato Grower Supply, and/or a light stand to start their own seeds?
