Selma Wins !

Amsterdam, November 6, 2004 -
The positive comments on the quality of the visitors are born out by the provisional results of the visitor survey.  Over a quarter of the visitors came to Amsterdam RAI with definite plans for purchases.  Almost a quarter of all the visitors requested a quotation or made an actual purchase.  Both the House of Plants and the new House of Taste were viewed as an inspiring addition to the trade fair.  The visitor registration system shows that the visitors came from 118 countries.  They once again gave the International Horti Fair the find rating of 7.8 out of 10.  The number of visitors (54,176) was virtually the same as in the previous two years (55,860 and 54,164 respectively).

Gerbera 'Ring of Fire' wins Innovation Award - The new mini Gerbera 'Ring of Fire' stands out as a special cut flower among the multitude of new cultivars owing to its darker ring, which is clear in all stages of flowering.  This trendy flower, which is suitable for special floristry and has a mystical aura, is at present being selectively marketed.

Second prize in the floriculture category went to the Hydrangea 'Selma', a selection from "The Dutch Ladies Series" t.m. of Hydrangeas, represented by Hortis Holland.

The dates of the next Horti Fair, which will again be held in the Amsterdam RAI Exhibition Centre, are November 2 to 5, 2005.  The prospects are favorable: 78% of all the visitors plan to come again next year.

The plants shown on the http://www.icangarden.com/neweden/dutchladycollection.htm web-site are the list of plants Pride of Place Plants Inc.? currently manages for breeders in the North American marketplace. These cultivars and the ones to follow deserve to be in many more home gardens. Pride of Place Plants will do its part to make them a larger part of the North American market!
Sincere Regards.
