Re: Free deer fence?

Carlo has a good point, and I'm sure this varies from place to place. In
NJ, the state subsidizes electric deer fencing for farmers, large or
small. In our town, it is prohibited in all zones, but you can get a
variance for special circumstances. In a neigboring town, my friend has
an electric deer fence around her flower garden. It is usually permitted
,provided that it is clearly labeled with a warning every so many feet.

Other donee possibilites are nature conservation organizations. For
example, The Nature Conservancy is trying to bring back tree growth in a
former farm field in our town. The field is temporarily fenced with
electric fence until the saplings grow tall enough to survive on their
own. Visitors to the Conservancy property are expected to keep on the
trails and the fence is clearly marked.
