Re: Total number of apple varieties in UK.


Was reading a 2004 issue of the British Country Life magazine.  There 
was a little piece in it about the last of 10 historic orchards that 
have been replanted in Gloucestershire to reintroduce ancient local 
apple varieties.  Among the colorful names for the old varieties are 
'Gilliflower of Gloucester', 'Hen's Turd', and 'Bloody Bastard'.
