Re: Garden Thugs - 3 Biggest
Tom, I SO agree on those Mulberry tree seedlings -- I feel like every
bedding edge is being attacked by them and their LONG tap root.
My personal experience nominees are:
- Artemenesia 'Limelight'
- Paulownia tomentosa (Princess Tree)
- Asian Wisteria
Sincerely,
Kathy Jentz

Here in San Luis Obispo, Ca, I'd vote the three biggest thugs planted as: 1.
Privets...need pruning all the time, grow taller than wanted, are messy and
allergenic. 2. Myoporum laetum....often used as hedges, but if not pruned
often, can quickly turn into large, messy trees. 3. Fruitless mulberry
trees....very fast growing and gets very big, often too big for small yard,
roots crack sidewalks and foundations, a male clone that in early spring
releases a huge amount of extremely allergenic pollen.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Tom
