RE: [GWL]: Most Common Garden Questions

In doing 100's of speeches in dozens of home shows, I've probably answered
over 10,000 questions mostly by yardeners about their lawn.
Top questions:
What do I do about moles?  May times they don't have moles but instead have
voles.
What do I do for grubs?  Most have tried a diazinon or Dursban product but
did not use it properly.  In many other cases, they blamed any problem in
the lawn on grubs.
How to avoid dead spots from dog urine.  Not one was willing to get of the
dog (grin).
Just built a new home last year and this year the lawn self destructed; what
do I do?  In virtually all cases the builder cheated on putting in the lawn
in the first place.
How can I grow grass in the shade? Answer - they can't.
In new construction lawns what do I do about mushrooms?
Dealing with Creeping Charlie weeds.


As important as the most frequently asked questions are the least frequently
asked but very important questions.
Seldom do they ask about mowing; yet they mow too short
Never a question about overseeding an existing lawn; yet their turf is thin
and weed filled
Never a question about soil care, yet they are growing lawns on seriously
compacted soil with negligible organic content
